Domestic Goddesses

Well, I have observed many times that being a ‘House Wife’ or rather a ‘Home Maker’ , is NEVER given enough credits or to be precise , never given one. Let me be blunt, this is particularly in a male dominant society like ours.
Is going to office, having a good post in the company, earning money , the only way of proving one’s capability ? I don’t think so.  Men often are the sole bread winners of the family, especially in India. Well, no doubt about that.

But, how do they manage to go to the office everyday tension free, have a lunch box in their hand, leaving their wet towels on the bed(for the messy ones) , bidding a goodbye to their kids and closing all the homely mess and tensions  with the close of the door ?
That’s solely because they have someone to look after everything that they left behind.
The lovely homemakers. The ones who make our house,a home.

Working people get weekly offs. Do our home makers get even a Sunday off? They work 365 days a year and 24 hours a day. Whether they feel like or not. Whether they are unwell or simply tired, they make every effort to implement their duties with love and affection.

In no way am I trying to knock the importance of being a home maker, it’s completely a personal choice. I just want to make people realize that home makers are important resources to us, to our families and most importantly to the world outside.

Raising kids, keeping the kitchen stocked with food and grocery items, then cooking , managing the other small chores of the house that keeps it running, managing the monthly expenses, managing MAIDS (for all the women, I know how important the maids are !), phew ! It’s a task!  HatsOff!
Little-little things that go unnoticed are the ones that keep the home and the members of the family going. With changing times, women work and manage the household chores. A big ‘thumbs up’ to those able to strike a balance between work and household duties.

Being a home maker is a choice, which should not only be accepted but also celebrated. Give them their due credit. Thank them for being there to take care of everything at home, make them feel worthy and most importantly , make them feel happy. Both, the man and wife are dependent on each other and should work as a team to make their home,a paradise.

And Ladies, next time anyone questions ‘What do you do?’ –  Say : “I do the toughest job in the world. I am a home maker.”  And take pride in that.

Writer’s Note:
My mother is a home maker and I always feel proud to have someone like her, whom I can learn from each day. I may never be even a little close to what she is; it’s difficult to be perfect like her. We believe that, nobody in the world  is perfect. But, for me she is an idol of perfection. She handles and executes all her duties well, every single day of her life. She has raised two extremely mischievous daughters.
The Elder one (my sister) is married, but my mom continues to raise me. Though am not a very finicky child, at times handling me is difficult. I don’t even want to imagine how life would be, had she chosen to work outside.

Kudos to every single home maker!
We appreciate your presence and all that you do for us.
Thank You for keeping our lives on track. JJ
